A female indicted with stalking Kate McCann reportedly recorded her a voicemail message which asked: "suppose I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, twenty-four, who witnesses stated has consistently asserted she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are on trial charged with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February the current year.

On Monday, the tribunal was told communication data and evidence obtained from phones documented Ms Wandelt repeatedly demanding Madeleine's mother for a genetic test throughout the past two years.

Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a vacation in Portugal - is considered the most publicized investigations and remains open.

'I Don't Want Money'

Another phone message, shared in court, recorded Ms Wandelt saying: "I understand I'm overweight and not pretty like Madeleine used to be, but I feel what I believe."

While another instance of Ms Wandelt's monologues with Mrs McCann's recording expressed: "Imagine there is a small chance that I am Madeleine? Then what? Is that not important for you?"

"I am not seeking money, I maintain a living here in Poland, I only wish to discover," she added.

The panel was told that through electronic messages, SMS messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt requested a biological test, sent youth pictures to her phone in a bid to show a resemblance to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and claimed to have "flashbacks" from a childhood with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an intelligence analyst with the police force who collated the information, told the court there "seemed to lack any replies" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also contacted acquaintances of the McCanns, based on the phone records.

On October 9th, 2024, the father picked up a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "a wrong number."

On that occasion Ms Wandelt left a voicemail on Mrs McCann's recording declaring "I will continue and I intend to demonstrate my point."

The court was informed the co-defendant struck up a association online with Ms Wandelt preceding accompanying her on a trip to the McCanns' home in that area in that winter.

Communication data demonstrated Mrs Spragg had contacted via WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to express the media had depicted Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she should be taken seriously in the months leading up to the visit to the village, Leicestershire, in December 2024.

The court heard correspondence between the two accused, in last November, discussing attempting to obtain Mrs McCann's DNA samples from her garbage or from utensils at a eating establishment.

"We must assert ourselves," the co-defendant told Ms Wandelt.

On the evening of the trip to their house, the defendant sent a communication which expressed: "We are sitting outside the McCanns' home with our lights out similar to detectives. I desired to accomplish this with another person I never thought I would be engaged in this with the McCanns."

The case continues.
