Dominant Aryna Sabalenka Claims Back-to-Back WTA Player of the Year Awards.

The tennis star in action
Aryna Sabalenka concluded the tour with an impressive 23-3 Grand Slam win-loss record.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second successive season.

The 27-year-old secured four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – including retaining the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship.

A Year of Consistency

Throughout the year, Sabalenka played in a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the whole season as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.

Record-Breaking Achievements

Sabalenka concluded the season with a 63-12 win-loss record, and collected a historic £11m in tournament winnings.

She garnered almost 80% of the votes cast by global tennis journalists.

On 28 December, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a higher level".
