Mikel Arteta Fears Fitness Woes Could Undermine Arsenal's Trophy Hunt

Arsenal's manager has expressed concern that his team's pursuit for titles this season is being threatened by a concerning cycle of injuries and a relentless schedule.

There was, however, positive news regarding Gabriel Jesus, with the Brazilian forward registered to their European squad. He replaces the hurt youngster Max Dowman, who suffered an ankle injury.

"Practice, no because we lack time to train. But obviously the fact that you are missing players, you are placing demands on other players more, there's a consequence to that and it's a really vicious cycle."

Dowman's setback is the most recent in a long list of injuries for the North London side. Since the beginning of last season, they have suffered 95 player absences, the second-most total in the Premier League.

Even after a significant off-season investment exceeding £250 million, Arteta stated the club is not planning to enter the winter recruitment market.

"Right now we're just concentrating on bringing the players back and hopefully it will be a matter of a short time," he commented. "We know how crucial those weeks are going to be."

The team experienced their initial defeat in 18 matches at the weekend, cutting their advantage at the summit of the Premier League to two clear points.
