Arne Slot admitted that it was natural for concerns to be asked about his position after a further convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.
Liverpool endured their ninth loss in 12 games, representing the club's worst run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.
They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult night at Anfield.
“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received plenty of backing from above,” Slot remarked.
“It would be great to change things and earn three points obviously but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it's expected that questions are asked.”
He noted, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”
When asked to elaborate on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:
“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they back me.”
He further stated, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so it remains to be seen.”
Slot lamented recurring weaknesses from his team in their Champions League loss, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.
Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.
“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder remarked.
“It’s just unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the phrases.”
He went on, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”
“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a spell such as this with outcomes like these.”
Jones finished, “But we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And until it is gone, we’re always going to battle.”
“We will attempt to help the side back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”
“At this moment, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
