This event resulted in the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two men have been charged in connection with a luggage theft where a substance thought to be capsaicin spray caused injuries at the UK's busiest airport.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, have both been charged with two counts of robbery and charges for using a harmful chemical, as confirmed by court officials.

This legal action stems from an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Prior to the attack, two female travelers had their luggage taken after exiting a car park lift, police said.

A toddler was among those injured in the event. Several persons required hospital care and were later discharged.

This event – which authorities stated was isolated and deemed non-terroristic – led to train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area for a short time.
